Re “U.S. Funds Project to Cull Dying Trees,” May 12: The $70 million will pay to remove about 35,000 trees; this amounts to about $2,000 per tree. Here in the Inland Empire, when given permission, men will take their trucks and chain saws to the hills to cut those trees into fireplace length, return to a parking lot and wait for hours for a customer, then for $100 or so deliver the wood. Go figure!
