On fire with decorative possibilities

Fire as an element of design? That’s the idea behind the Cyclone, a new fireplace-like device that lets you add the drama of a flame pretty much anywhere indoors. The new product by fireplace manufacturer Heat-N-Glo consists of a whirling, vertical natural gas flame inside an elegant 3 1/2- to 4-foot-tall clear glass cylinder.

“The Cyclone creates an entirely new design product category and allows homeowners to capture the allure of fire in virtually any architectural application,” says Susan Hilt Lagos, the company’s brand manager. Although the remote-controlled dancing flames don’t provide the warmth of a hearth, there won’t be any ashes to clean up either.
