Exonerated Man Starts Investigation Nonprofit
A Winston-Salem man exonerated after spending 18 years in prison on a murder conviction has started a nonprofit foundation to help investigate inmates’ innocence claims.
The Darryl Hunt Project for Freedom and Justice also will help freed inmates rejoin society.
“I wanted to help other people, to give them a voice, because I know I was fortunate to have people supporting me and speaking up for me,” Hunt said. “I was innocent, and I know how hard it is for people who are in prison to have voices on the outside to speak up for them.”
