From Bloomberg News

Toyota Motor Corp. raised the U.S. target for its Scion vehicles as 2004 sales of the brand intended for younger buyers approached the company’s initial goal for next year.

The Japanese automaker, which sold 79,422 Scions through October, may reach the high 90,000s this year, brand manager Jim Farley said. Toyota expanded Scion nationally in February after the brand debuted in California last year, with a target of 100,000 sales in 2005. That goal has been increased to 125,000.

Scion won’t get to 100,000 this year only “because we won’t have enough cars,” Farley said from Toyota’s U.S. sales base in Torrance.
