3,000 Demonstrate Against Syrian Influence

About 3,000 Lebanese university students and right-wing Christian activists in Beirut defied government warnings and demonstrated against Syria’s domination of their country.
Large numbers of security forces watched but did not intervene as the crowd converged downtown, shouting, “Syrians out!” One demonstrator dressed as Osama bin Laden wore a sign on his chest that read “Syrian Terror.” He held a toy gun to the head of a protester who was wrapped in the Lebanese flag.
