Charmers Not Swayed by Ban on Snake Shows

A group of snake charmers threatened to release cobras and pythons in the Legislature of the Indian state of Orissa if authorities prevented them from holding roadside shows.
Wildlife protection officials had arrested half a dozen charmers, seizing snakes they use in their acts.
That infuriated the snake charmers, one of whom said they would release nearly 5,000 snakes “if forest officials continue to harass us.”
