Tape Shows Beheading of Iraq Captive
A videotape posted on Islamic websites Saturday showed Iraqi militants beheading a man, presumably another Iraqi, who said he had worked for the U.S. military in the northern city of Mosul for the last 10 months.
The killing was claimed by the Ansar al Sunna Army, a group that claimed responsibility for beheading a Turkish driver and an Iraqi Kurd, shown in two tapes that surfaced this month. It also claimed responsibility for the slayings of 12 Nepalese construction workers, an act shown in a videotape that was posted Aug. 31.
The authenticity of the latest tape and the claim of responsibility could not be independently verified.
The tape showed a man wearing what appeared to be a U.S. military-issue brown T-shirt. Speaking in Arabic, he identified himself as Seif Adnan Kanaan, saying he worked as a vehicle mechanic and beverage deliveryman for U.S. forces based at Mosul airport.
It was unclear when he was captured or killed.
