Facts Over Faith

Re “Responding to Prayers,” Sept. 4: I don’t think that a story implying that prayers cured a severely injured woman belongs in your news section. To report that “some might call it miraculous” makes it sound like a miracle is a reasonable inference to draw from the facts presented in the article.

The truth of the matter is that many people are severely injured every day all over the world. Some survive. Many don’t. Some are prayed for and some not. There’s no way of connecting survival rates with prayer quantity. Picking one story where people prayed and the victim survived says nothing about causation, only about faith. That’s why the story belongs on Page B2 in the Beliefs section.
