Glorying in violence

Re “The Game of Life” (Sept. 12): Here’s a better title -- “The Game of American Life.” After all, it’s no accident that the most violent, warring country in the world would worship the most violent game in the world.

Blitz, sack, bomb, scrimmage -- ring a bell?

Contrary to “Friday Night Lights” director Peter Berg, the night I stood on a football field and witnessed a vibrant teenage boy break his neck has never given me the urge to make a movie but to encourage my kids to play soccer.
