‘Longhair’s’ Advice Falls on Deaf Ears

Veteran anti-government protester Leung “Longhair” Kwok-hung, who won a seat in Hong Kong’s recent legislative elections, asked leader Tung Chee-hwa to resign during a meeting.

“I told him directly that he should immediately step down,” Leung said. “It’s time for him to go home.”

But Leung told reporters after the session that Tung, handpicked by Beijing, gave no indication that he would quit.

“He said nothing. He just smiled,” said Leung, clad in his trademark red Che Guevara T-shirt. “I’m very angry. It was like talking to a wall.”
