8,000 at Rally Demand Return of Parliament
From Times Wire Reports
Nearly 8,000 opposition party supporters rallied in the Nepalese capital, Katmandu, to demand that the king return sovereignty to the people. “We want democracy restored! We want elections!” they chanted.
Although King Gyanendra in June reinstated Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, opposition supporters say not all democratic rights were restored. Parliament was dissolved in 2002.
There were no clashes.
