Not Sorry for Workers’ Comp Lawyers

Share

Regarding “From Injury to Insult” (March 27):

Our company employs about 140 people in the food service industry. The cost of our workers’ compensation insurance went from $40,000 a year to $216,000 a year over a three-year period. We are just beginning to see some slight relief thanks to changes made to the system.

It is insulting to all of the businesses in California to read that “attorneys are terrified about their livelihoods” because of these changes.

Attorneys are the ones that took a no-fault system of caring for injured employees and churned it into the mess it is today.

The workers’ compensation system was created to help injured employees, not to fund the lifestyles of attorneys.

We all need to step back and give the recent changes a chance to work.
