Blair Sets General Elections for May 5

British Prime Minister Tony Blair confirmed that national elections will be held May 5 after Queen Elizabeth II granted his request to dissolve Parliament.
Blair is seeking a third term and is favored to win, despite a drop in polls published Tuesday.
His Labor Party’s majority in the lower house is likely to be reduced. It has 410 of the 659 seats.
