Britons Visit Family of Man Slain in Error

British police visited the family of a Brazilian electrician shot dead in London when he was mistaken for a suicide bomber, to apologize and discuss compensation.
Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, was shot eight times by plainclothes police July 22.
British Ambassador Peter Collecott also visited the family in the town of Gonzaga. British newspapers said earlier that police could offer the family up to $1 million in damages.
