From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A 30-year-old Irvine woman was charged Monday with beating to death a neighbor’s 8-month-old girl in her care, officials said.
Sunhye Choi, facing charges of murder and child abuse, is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 18 in Newport Beach. If convicted, officials said, she could face 25 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors say Choi beat the baby, Nicole Jeong, in the back of the head seven times, causing injuries that led to her Aug. 1 death.
