Longing for the Club Med of memory

Share

I just had to add to “Club Med Rolls on Through Love, War and Trends Galore” [Her World, Dec. 11]. My husband and I recently returned from an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, complete with high-thread-count sheets and gourmet meals. And you know what? We were bored!

Having spent all previous vacations at Club Med Cancun, we were unimpressed by the employees’ meager attempts to entertain us. We were completely at a loss, not knowing what to do with ourselves all day. Where were the GOs [Gracious Organizers] rousing us from our beach chairs to join in a sun dance? Who was going to teach us how to sail? Or invite us to go snorkeling? What about the GMs’ [Gracious Members] show, where the guests perform onstage? Where was the chef du village, a manager by any other name, making sure we were having a great time? And most important of all, where are the memories, the crazy photos, the new friends?

It wasn’t until we got home that we realized what we missed -- Club Med.
