12 Soldiers Killed in Ambush in the North

Gunmen ambushed Iraqi soldiers near the village of Zab in northern Iraq and killed 12 of them, an officer said today.
The troops were returning to the northern city of Kirkuk, about 40 miles northeast of Zab. They are assigned to guard oil facilities, said Maj. Gen. Anwar Mohammed Amin.
The ambush was the deadliest attack since Sunday’s general elections.
