Rape, Assault Charges Against Ex-Priest Stand

A judge in Cambridge rejected a request from a defrocked priest’s attorney to dismiss the child rape and indecent assault charges against him.
Attorney Frank Mondano said the evidence showed that Paul Shanley’s accuser had a false memory of being abused and that the charges should be dropped.
Middlesex Superior Court Judge Stephen Neel rejected Mondano’s motion, saying the question would have to be answered by the jury.
