Finance Chief Is Prime Minister Nominee

Georgia’s president nominated his finance minister as the new head of government, nearly a week after the death of Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania from carbon monoxide poisoning, a spokeswoman said.
President Mikhail Saakashvili made the decision to nominate Zurab Noghaideli, 40, after days of consultations with Cabinet officials and other advisors, spokeswoman Alana Gagloyeva said. Parliament has 10 days to vote on Noghaideli’s nomination.
