Celebrity Trials

Re the front-page story, “Jackson’s Witness List Is a Who’s Who of Stars” (Feb. 15), gushing over possible “celebrity” defense witnesses in the Michael Jackson case: Why is this tabloid fodder front-page news instead of being put in the Calendar/Entertainment listings where it belongs?

I really wish the United States had laws similar to the ones in the U.K. and Canada, which can limit media coverage of trials from the time of arraignment until the verdict is delivered. (This sentiment goes double for the overkill coverage of the trial of that has-been Robert Blake.) Gimme a break! The fate of the world does not hinge on the outcome of these trials.
