Confessing to Bono worship

Share

I enjoyed Geoff Boucher’s column on Bono (“A Bono-fied Religion,” Feb. 17). I too am a member of the Bono church. I am a little older than you (47 -- honey, now that is middle-aged), female, a history teacher at the Orange County High School of the Arts and a recovering Catholic. My husband has accepted my devotion to Bono. Hey, he doesn’t have to get up early on Sunday for this church!

My spiritual fantasy: I am at a U2 concert and Bono pulls me on stage. We lie down together while he sings “With or Without You.”

He does this, but it will never happen to me. “Why?” you ask. (1) I am too old to qualify as a girl. (2) He picks only girls who stand around the stage; my ticket would never be that close. (3) I don’t look hot on video.

But, if that did happen -- now that’s what I call being born again.
