Communist Rebels Kill 12 Soldiers in Ambush

At least 12 soldiers were killed fighting communist rebels in Nepal’s remote mountainous east, officials said.
Ten other soldiers were wounded in the ambush and were airlifted to a nearby hospital, officials said.
It was not immediately known if any rebels were killed in the fighting.
The guerrillas have been fighting since 1996 to replace Nepal’s monarchy with a communist state. More than 10,500 people have died in the fighting.
