TV Host Allowed to Divorce Abusive Spouse
A Saudi television host has been granted a divorce from her husband, who savagely beat her last year.
In April, newspapers published pictures of the battered face of Rania Baz and said she suffered 13 facial fractures after Mohammed Fallatta repeatedly slammed her head against the floor.
Fallatta served half of a six-month jail sentence and was released after Baz pardoned him and dropped claims for compensation in return for custody of their two children.
“The judge ordered him to divorce me,” Baz was quoted as saying by the daily Arab News.
