Bias in the Church

Share

Re “Lutherans Compromise on Gays in the Clergy,” Jan 14: Though formal discrimination against women in the clergy has been gradually eliminated in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, there is still angst about gay and lesbian ministers. This selective discrimination against homosexuals, but no longer against women, is inconsistent with the clear biblical prohibition against women speaking in church (I Corinthians 14:34-35). Literal interpretation of Scripture against gays and lesbians should go the same way prejudices and cultural biases against women and slaves have gone.
