The true spirit of collaboration

Is Mark Kashper so contemptuous of L.A. Times readers that he assumes we do not understand that Esa-Pekka Salonen is conducting a stage full of musicians during the performance of a piano concerto (Weekend Feedback, Jan. 13)? Can he not fathom the idea that this is implied in a brief Weekend Forecast headline? If he is that deprived of common sense, we believe he is indeed in need of a two-week vacation.
