Oil Company Gets Time to Clear Up Allegations
The district attorney’s office is giving an oil company until April to clear up 79 of 103 alleged safety violations, but prosecutors will move forward with a suit on the rest.
The remaining 24 include allegations that Greka Energy released potentially lethal hydrogen sulfide gas and failed to notify construction companies where its pipelines are buried, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Jerry Lulejian.
Trial could begin in August, he said.
Greka officials said the 79 allegations were minor violations that all oil companies encounter, but prosecutors disagreed.
