Shouting Heads Spew Little Worth Hearing

Share

Re “Shout-Fests Are Good for America,” Commentary, Jan. 23: Michael Kinsley needs to take another look at his argument. Angry, shouting people tend to make things up because they really do not want to lose the argument.

If these “shout-fests” were really about people with well-considered opinions in debate strongly expressing their convictions, they might be what you say -- good for America. But pundits are paid to form quick opinions based on popular and easily accessible information. Their positions tend to be based on entertainment appeal and ideology.

Shouting heads spewing propagandized summaries of events and conclusions do not serve any of us, save those who do not want us to know what is happening.
