More than 400 United Nations peacekeepers stormed into a Port-au-Prince slum in a continuing effort to halt violence by armed loyalists of ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. At least two men were killed, officials said.

Gunfire crackled from at least four shootouts in Cite Soleil, said Lt. Col. Jorge Smicelapo, a military spokesman.
