Trial Begins in Killing of Filmmaker Van Gogh
From Times Wire Reports
The man accused of killing Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh quoted prayers to judges as his trial began, and he left court holding a Koran above his head.
Mohammed Bouyeri refused to answer questions about his possible motivation and said he had no plans to fight the charges.
Prosecutors say Bouyeri, of Moroccan origin, shot Van Gogh several times Nov. 2 on an Amsterdam street. Van Gogh was a prominent critic of Muslim fundamentalism.
