She’s a star, she’s a rocker, she’s a nosher

At the tender age of 32, Juliette Lewis has carved out a choice spot for herself in the Hollywood firmament. An Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, the versatile actress has brought a ferocious commitment and intelligence to the films of such auteurs as Martin Scorsese (“Cape Fear”), Quentin Tarantino (“From Dusk Till Dawn”), Woody Allen (“Husbands and Wives”) and Oliver Stone (“Natural Born Killers”). Lately, she’s been finishing up work on “Catch and Release” with Jennifer Garner, one of seven movie projects on her plate this year.

And then there’s her musical side. The hard-rocking Juliette Lewis & the Licks have been touring the country in support of their first full-length album, “You’re Speaking My Language,” and kick off their world domination campaign in Tokyo at the end of the month.

It’s enough to make the Los Angeles resident yearn for a low-key weekend to herself.

Not the neurotic type

On Friday nights I like Puran’s on Hillhurst Avenue, which is really high-class but you can still write on the tablecloths. They have really great, healthy food. I like the chicken and artichoke. After that I might go to the arcade on Vermont, and then straight home. I don’t have a lot of free time, and the free time I do have I like to spend at home.

On Saturday morning I might have a huge breakfast at home -- eggs and zucchini and gluten-free waffles. Or if I feel like going out, I’ll drive to this place in Echo Park called the Brite Spot and have the vegetable omelet and some pancakes. The reason I try to watch what I eat is not to be skinny. I’m not a neurotic actress that way. I do it to be healthy and for the energy.

After breakfast, I’ll go shopping at Camille Hudson on Vermont and Hollywood, where they have the most colorful, loud shoes you’ve ever seen. And some sexy high heels too. I’ll take my man with me and let him buy me a pair of shoes.

Later, we’ll go hiking around Griffith Park or Silver Lake. I haven’t worked out in so long because my shows with the Licks are such workouts. But hiking is a nice way to get outside for a while.

Then after that we’ll go to a place on Hillhurst called the Alcove Cafe & Bakery, where they have amazing salads, panini and smoothies. They have tables outside too.

And next door there’s this fantastic food shop called the Village Gourmet, where they have all this great stuff from Italy -- wine, cheeses, olive oil, honey. It’s really small and owned by a really great guy, and I’m their No. 1 customer. We’d buy some stuff for Sunday; the chicken salad is really fresh and made with good ingredients.

Quiet Sunday

On Sunday we’ll get up and go stretch out by the pool -- no one else is invited. Then we’ll drive up into Malibu and go get some fish at one of the restaurants there that everybody else goes to.

Later I like to go browse around Amoeba record store. The used CDs are good.

In the afternoon, we’ll go to the ArcLight, where you get that nice, old-fashioned moviegoing experience but in an upscale setting. I would hope that we could see something as good as “Sideways.” That movie rules. When something is that truthful, it makes me love it so much.
