From Times Wire Reports

Los Angeles County Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman moved one step closer to keeping his job past age 60, thanks to a law signed Wednesday by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

County firefighters, including the chief, are required to retire when they reach 60, as Freeman will in August. But the bill, which was sponsored by the county, allows the Board of Supervisors to let Freeman stay longer.
