U.S. Offers Guides for New Immigrants
To help new immigrants integrate into life in the U.S., the federal government is offering a free guide with advice on how to become a citizen, pay taxes, enroll children in school and get a Social Security number.
The guide is an effort to reach out to permanent residents -- immigrants here legally but who have not become citizens, officials said.
The online guide is available in English, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese at www.uscis.gov.
By the end of the summer, it will also be offered in Tagalog, Korean, Russian, Arabic, French, Portuguese and Creole by various community organizations.
