Attention, Democrats: Mideast Policy Works
Utopian Democrats have been so quick to find fault with the president’s initiatives in the Middle East. But who could imagine that spreading democracy in a land of tyranny would be uncomplicated. For the liberals, it was always so difficult to embrace the simple concept that doing something so complicated would involve casualties, bumps in the road, days of despair.
But here we are. Successful elections in Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq. Libya renouncing its nuclear program. Hosni Mubarak announcing contested presidential elections in Egypt (Feb. 27). And now the collapse of the outlaw government in Lebanon (March 1).
How hard it must be for those on the left, who hate our president so viscerally, to admit that what he has done is working.
