Five Slain as U.S. Forces Clash With Militants

A gun battle between U.S. forces and militants in eastern Afghanistan left three militants and two civilians dead, the U.S. military said.
The clash, which began Wednesday when militants fired on the U.S. forces, also injured two soldiers and three civilians.
The military did not specify where the incident occurred except to say it was in the country’s east, which borders Pakistan. It also did not say how the civilians were caught in the cross-fire.
