The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq or who died in the U.S. after returning from duty in Iraq:

Azhar Ali, 27, of Flushing, N.Y.; specialist, Army National Guard. Ali was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in New York.

Danny L. Anderson, 29, of Corpus Christi, Texas; private first class, Army. Anderson was killed Feb. 27 when he was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 26th Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Adam N. Brewer, 22, of Dewey, Okla.; specialist, Army. Brewer was among three soldiers killed Feb. 25 when an improvised explosive device detonated while they were on dismounted patrol in Taji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Min S. Choi, 21, of River Vale, N.J.; private first class, Army. Choi was one of two soldiers killed Feb. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated while they were on patrol in Abertha, southeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Alexander B. Crackel, 31, of Wilstead, England; staff sergeant, Army. Crackel was killed Feb. 24 when he was attacked with small-arms fire in Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment at Camp Hovey, Korea.

Michael S. Deem, 35, of Rockledge, Fla.; specialist, Army. Deem died Feb. 24 of noncombat-related injuries in Baghdad. He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Colby M. Farnan, 22, of Weston, Mo.; specialist, Army. Farnan was among three soldiers killed Feb. 25 when an improvised explosive device detonated while they were on dismounted patrol in Taji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Richard B. Gienau, 29, of Longview, Iowa; second lieutenant, Army National Guard. Gienau was killed Feb. 27 when an improvised explosive device struck his military vehicle in Ramadi. He was assigned to the 224th Engineer Battalion, Army National Guard in Burlington, Iowa.

Landon S. Giles, 19, of Indiana, Pa.; private, Army. Giles was one of two soldiers killed Feb. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated while they were on patrol in Abertha, southeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Chassan S. Henry, 20, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; private first class, Army. Henry was killed Feb. 25 in an explosion during combat operations in Ramadi. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, Korea.

Michael D. Jones, 43, of Unity, Maine; sergeant first class, Army National Guard. Jones died Thursday in Syracuse, N.Y., of a noncombat-related illness after returning from duty in Iraq. He was assigned to the 133rd Engineer Battalion, Army National Guard in Belfast, Maine.

Wai P. Lwin, 27, of Queens, N.Y.; specialist, Army National Guard. Lwin was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in New York.

Jason L. Moski, 24, of Blackville, S.C.; specialist, Army. Moski was among three soldiers killed Feb. 25 when an improvised explosive device detonated while they were on dismounted patrol in Taji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Julio E. Negron, 28, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; sergeant, Army. Negron was killed Monday in a military vehicle accident in Bayji, south of Mosul. He was assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Andrew W. Nowacki, 24, of South Euclid, Ohio; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Nowacki was killed Feb. 26 in enemy action in Babil province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Erie, Pa.

Robert S. Pugh, 25, of Meridian, Miss.; specialist, Army National Guard. Pugh was killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Iskandariya, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry, Army National Guard in McComb, Miss.

Lizbeth Robles, 31, of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico; specialist, Army. Robles died Tuesday at the 228th Command Support Hospital in Tikrit of injuries suffered Monday in a military vehicle accident. She was assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Juan M. Solorio, 32, of Dallas; staff sergeant, Army. Solorio was killed Friday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle while his unit was being attacked with small-arms fire in Mosul. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.
