From Times Wire Reports
The United Nations said a second soldier in its 7,400-member peacekeeping force had been killed over the weekend in clashes with former troops from Haiti’s disbanded army.
The Nepalese peacekeeper was killed late Sunday when U.N. troops, driving to Hinche, exchanged gunfire with former Haitian soldiers, U.N. spokesman Damian Onses-Cardona said. Earlier, a Sri Lankan peacekeeper died when his unit raided a police station occupied by former soldiers in Petit-Goave.
