Mexico Expects Boost in Exports to Japan
From Associated Press
Mexican Economy Minister Fernando Canales said its free trade agreement with Japan should boost annual exports to the Asian country by about 11%.
The pact, which goes into effect Friday, also probably will attract an additional $1.2 billion a year in Japanese investment and help generate more than 80,000 jobs each year in Mexico, Canales said.
It fits into Mexico’s strategy of diversifying export destinations and sources of foreign investment. The U.S. currently absorbs about 90% of Mexico’s exports.
