A Touch of Rain, but No Record
A measly .01 of an inch of rain fell on downtown Los Angeles by 4 p.m. Thursday, dampening the pavement but leaving the city still 1.11 inches short of the all-time seasonal record of 38.18 inches, set in 1883-84.
The National Weather Service had predicted up to an inch of rain, enough to raise the expectations of those hoping for a record for the season, which runs from July 1 to June 30. But the storm weakened as it came onshore, with most of the rain falling in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties and along the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Forecasters said there’s a slight chance of showers today and again Monday, with mostly sunny and warmer weather by the middle of next week.
