They Don’t Deserve a Free Ride on Licenses
Re “New Bill Offers Special Licenses,” May 20: Someone can illegally be in our country and get a free driver’s license while people born or legally here have to pay $25 for their licenses. Have our lawmakers lost their minds? That means people here legally not only pay their own $25 fee but in effect also pay the fee for someone who is here illegally. The problem is not with our elected officials. The problem is with those of us who elected them.

Now let me get this straight. A state Senate panel offers to give illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, and they will be free? Why is it that I as a taxpaying citizen have to pay for my driver’s license, along with healthcare, which is another perk we offer the illegal immigrants?
How can I change my status from a citizen to illegal? I’ll save a ton of money.
