Support for homeless
Re “Bratton’s Plans for Homeless Debated,” Oct. 31
Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton’s plans for the homeless are well intentioned. And I think we all would agree that their housing, medical care and social needs are the responsibility of city and county government.
However, the private sector has provided very generous support over the years to such organizations as the Los Angeles Mission and many other agencies serving this population. Because of this “giving back” by individuals, foundations and corporations in our city, literally millions of dollars have been saved by the government, and therefore by the taxpayers.
