State education officials misrepresent results

Share

On Wednesday, a San Francisco Superior Court judge ordered the state to void the credentials of about 4,000 public school teachers who had wrongly been labeled “highly qualified” (Nov. 3).

In March, Harvard Civil Rights Project researchers pointed out that California graduated only 71% of its ninth-grade class four years later, not the 87% that the California Department of Education claimed.

Quality education is a critical factor for the future of students in California.

It is unacceptable for the state’s education establishment to misreport or misrepresent their performance and compliance with established laws and regulations.
