Jamdat Mobile Posts Leap in Net Income

Jamdat Mobile Inc., a publisher of video games for mobile phones, reported a sharply higher third-quarter profit Tuesday as sales more than doubled from a year earlier.

The news sent the Los Angeles company’s shares up 8% to $19.10 after hours. The stock had fallen 76 cents to $17.70 in regular trading.

Jamdat said net income rose to $1.4 million, or 6 cents a share, from $8,000, or less than a penny, in the year-earlier period. Sales rose to $20.2 million from $9.5 million.

“As we enter the important holiday selling season, we look forward to expanding the distribution of our most popular brands,” Chief Executive Mitch Lasky said in a statement.

Jamdat, distributor of games such as “Downtown Texas Hold ‘Em” and “Tetris,” projected fourth-quarter net income in the range of 9 cents to 13 cents a share. Revenue is projected at $23.5 million to $25 million.
