Palestinian Teen Wounded by Israeli Navy
A Palestinian teenager was shot and critically wounded by Israeli naval forces while fishing off the Gaza Strip coast, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
It was not clear what weapon was used against 17-year-old Khaled abu Ryala, who was taken to a central Gaza hospital for surgery.
An Israeli military source said the navy boat opened fire when the fishing vessel strayed outside waters Palestinians are allowed to fish in.
Citing security concerns, Israel bars Palestinians from fishing near the Egyptian border in southern Gaza and near Israel in northern Gaza.
