Cisco Systems Inc., whose equipment routes two-thirds of Internet traffic, plans to sell a Wi-Fi product to take advantage of rising demand from cities for high-speed wireless networks.

Cisco Systems will sell wireless networking access points for rooftops and light posts, and other wireless gear that doesn’t need to be configured, San Jose-based Cisco said. The company will partner with IBM Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. in the offering.
