Healed By a Dog’s Love

Thank you for Chuck Gilkison’s incredibly moving story about himself and his dog Sam (“Man’s Best Friend, and More,” Nov. 6). I was particularly struck when he mentioned that Sam now has seizures as he once did. Several years ago, I came down with chronic fatigue. Months later, my dog Shakti was diagnosed with the same thing. I recovered. She didn’t. I believe that animals are able to take on our illnesses, healing us in more ways than we can imagine.
