A recently discovered object that could be the solar system’s 10th planet turns out to have a moon, Caltech scientists announced.

The moon, nicknamed Gabrielle, is about 150 miles across. It was spotted Sept. 10 with the Keck II telescope in Hawaii by a team headed by Michael E. Brown, the Caltech astronomer who discovered the 10th planet, known as Xena. Both objects are located beyond Neptune in what is known as the Kuiper Belt.
