Council Votes to Return Free Sunday Parking
From Times Wire Reports
New York is again allowing free Sunday parking.
The City Council voted to override a veto by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and offer a break from fees at metered spots on Sundays.
Backers of the law said it would make it easier for churchgoers to attend services, while others said it would help encourage Sunday shopping. Bloomberg, who had vetoed the bill in August, called the 42-2 council vote “election-year pandering.”
