Rio’s Most-Wanted Man Is Killed in Police Raid

Police killed the head of a drug-trafficking gang that controlled Rio de Janeiro’s biggest slum, officials said.
Erismar Rodrigues Moreira, known as Bem-Te-Vi, was the most wanted man in the crime-ridden city. The 29-year-old was killed after police raided the Rocinha slum in an operation aimed at arresting him, officials said. Traffickers fought back with rifle fire and grenades.
