Ford Will Probably Scale Back ‘Employee’ Pricing

Ford Motor Co.’s North American sales chief, calling employee-discount pricing “a Pandora’s Box,” said the automaker would probably scale back the offers on its 2006 models.

Ford began its “Family Plan” incentive in July, after General Motors Corp. posted a 47% increase in June U.S. sales by offering all buyers the same discounts as employees. After a 29% gain in July sales, Ford applied employee pricing to some 2006 models, including the Escape and Explorer sport utility vehicles.
