Official Says U.S. Has Veto on Settlement

Israel won’t expand its largest West Bank settlement until it has U.S. approval, Israeli Vice Premier Ehud Olmert was quoted as saying.
Expanding the Maale Adumim settlement would cut off Jerusalem from the West Bank, making it virtually impossible for Palestinians to establish a future capital there.
Palestinian officials welcomed the comments reported by the Jerusalem Post but said they had not been formally notified of the decision.
